Jim Kaemingk Sr. Trail
While choosing this pleasant foot route for some easy Lynden exploring, you will also get the opportunity to burn some calories before getting an after workout bite to eat downtown.

Initially, observe the town at work by starting on Depot Road next to the newly completed City Hall and then head north, passing the busy Darigold plant. Shortly thereafter, you’ll go by Lynden City Park’s entrance and just beyond it, encounter the start of the Jim Kaemingk Sr. Trail. On a rainy day it’s sometimes nice to enjoy a trail without the puddles and mud and this flat, easily navigable asphalt trail allows just that.

Follow the path as it meanders along arbor lined Fishtrap Creek. You’ll pass schools, residential areas and sweeping grass fields while crossing multiple footbridges over the stream.

After just less than a mile, cross Bender Road before entering expansive Bender (Ball) Fields where you’ll enjoy a snow capped, majestic mountain backdrop view. Following the trail that runs between ball fields, pass the concession stand and continue to follow the path to Aaron Drive, the halfway point. From here, either continue to circle around the fields or double back, either way meeting up with Kaemingk Trail and then retracing your steps. Once back at Lynden City Park explore it’s far boundaries by taking a short, barked path that travels up along the forest floor before heading back out the main entrance and returning back to the starting point.
