Happy Hoka Run – Do Over
A Hoka  partnered All-Paces Run
Tuesday, February 28th
6pm run starts/5:45pm check-in

Originally scheduled for Tuesday, February 7th, we needed to reschedule the run due to some uncooperative winter weather conditions.

Experience the smile inducing, fresh-feeling of ultra cushy Hoka One One shoes.

  • Take a test run in the just released Hoka Bondi 5! (We’ll also have the Arahi and the Challenger.)
  • Haiku Contest- prize for best Haiku* about running!
  • Raffle for store gift certificates after the run, along with lite eats and drinks!

*Need a crash course on Haiku writing or want to get started now on writing yours? At the run, you can enter the Haiku contest. Your Haiku can be about anything running related – what you love about it, how it makes you feel, what it’s like.
What’s a haiku? At its simplest, it’s a three-line poem with a 5-7-5 syllable count.

Here are a couple examples:

running in the rain
dripping from my ponytail
my soul is refreshed

Deep in the woods, far
from bathroom, I hear a rum-
ble. Find large green leaves

A good traditional haiku is about more than the syllable count. The poem should evoke a single moment in time, and the images in the poem should be tied to the calendar of the seasons in a way that makes clear when it’s taking place in the natural cycle. The end effect of the poem should be a sort of moment of silence afterwards in which the reader goes “ah.”

Of course, there are also “joke” haiku in contemporary America that have nothing to do with being good haiku or good poems …we love funny, so that’s fine, too.

For safety’s sake, let’s light the night! Be sure to bring a headlamp or flashlight and wear something reflective.

Weekly Tuesday night All-Paces Runs are 20 minutes out and 20 minutes back, along waterfront trails and paths. Participants are divided into groups by pace, ranging from run/walk to 7-8 minute miles. Starts and finishes at the store.
So sorry, but these are people-only events (no doggies).
